That’s a flower bud? My guess would have been the beginning of the fruiting bodies. In the fall, each the darker green bodies will look like a red M&M tucked in the “cone” structure. I love the knurling on the bottom.

You’re correct (no surprise there!); it’s a young pod NOT a fleur. And, I agree, the knurling is stunning.
