Long story short, we stopped at Laney Cemetery (36.86073,-82.61422) to stretch our legs and just be curious. We discovered that the grounds were freshly mowed—we could still smell an overpowering fresh grass odor. Not sure why, but the mowers (that is, the people controlling the mowing machines) had blown the wet, mashed/cut grass onto the grave markers and decorations, including this angel—and just left the organic decorations in place.
Loved the detail on the wings.
