Of deer and apples

Apple tree amidst fog

The fog this morning was so dense and…persistent. There’s a doe and two fawn-children (but not so fawn-y this late in the season) who hang out right under this apple tree. With its fine crop-of-drops.

The bonus is that I can monitor this subset of the deer population from the kitchen and bathroom windows…to the east.

Until they notice me and skitter skitter away.

We have a deer herd of 6-12 that hang out under our lone apple tree and have only the fallen leaves to eat since we had an abysmal crop of fruit this year. They are very acclimated to people and dogs and barely pay any attention to us as we meander back and forth between our outbuildings. I love that I can picture the scenes you describe!
