Busy, busy (no bees)

Jocks jills

Today was a blur. At one point I got new feet…meaning shoes. I tried to take a “squared-up” shot of this, but found it impossible. Was I aiready tired at 12:30?

Spiny red spheres

Those blossoms fall off and become squishy, and will compact in shoe-treads. I’m keeping my new soles away from under this shrub, so as to avoid collecting compost.

Matsutake sliced

The day wound up with a cheese board, including snuck-in French (what other kind is there, though?) unpasteurized camembert, a side of sautéed matsutake mushrooms (mmmmm), and home-made pizzas. And wine-socializing.

Busy day, and lovely. Also, there was a musical in there somewhere….

Re the “squared up” shot: The corner wall appears vertical to me, but the street is sloping downhill, and the utility pole is leaning a bit towards the building. It’s probably as square as it going to get.

What kind of flowers/berries are those? The flowers look like they could be in the blueberry family. Ericacea? The fruit looks more like the raspberry family.

    “Youth” want to know. 😉

For a few moments, I thought lychee. But, no; it’s Arbutus unedo, or strawberry tree. And, you’re right, it’s Ericaceae.

I know that corner. That is where I walk anytime I get new shoes … up the hill, down the hill, back into the store.

Yes, we could see that exact pattern with the new shoes, and were invited to do same. I just wore the #newkicks straight out to begin their life with me, no returning to finalize the transaction. (And, yes, I paid—using the phone’s wallet app—yay!—before I left!)
