This sculpture got perhaps the best spot in the whole garden. It’s at the end of the Great Lawn opposite the conservatory, and standing in a fountain/pool, so it’s well-framed. I liked its reflective surfaces and the grand scale of the piece.
Until I saw a promotional photo in the Gift Shop when we were leaving, I did not realize that the whole upper shape is based on a circle, which splits roughly along the equator. I think the top part, which has what must be a fancy joint, got moved so far in one direction that it’s stuck “down,” you might say, out of its circular alignment. I could not get a good view of that pivot point in the center for the upper part of the circle, but I do have this shot of the base pivot for the whole sculpture. Must be sturdy!
