Brad Howe, Ropa Mansa and Spindle
Here’s another installation that was impossible to photograph. Also, the pieces had to compete with a busy background/ceiling that made it difficult to focus your eye on them.
Howe was channeling Calder, but having these mounted inside this relatively visually busy space didn’t do them justice. They needed far more open space.
The colors of the shapes didn’t grab me. I was looking for less dull and more saturated colors, or maybe it was the influence of the overcast sky.
I did like the softened rectangular shapes paired with the circles. That worked for me.
I cannot fathom how he came up with the titles….
