Sushi, dregs

At the last minute we changed our dinner plans (which were rather loose to begin with), and made a right turn…to sushi—very happy to have one of my favorites, agedashi tofu (not shown).

Here’s my first knitting project of this century. Colors seem a bit…off, but close.

Somewhere in the historical arc there were large land parcels. Then there were smaller land parcels. Then came housing developments, carefully avoiding/incorporating a river (called a Creek) that might (meaning “could be expected to”) flood. Sometime later came limited access highways.
The newest phase of development incorporates pedestrian corridors along the highways, making slow passage parallel fast travel separated by a few meters in elevation and a stout (but not tall) chain-link fence.
In this case, the “creek” now has a fancy pedestrian bridge crossing—Pioneer model(?) Bailey bridge.

Beltline at Edgewood.
More and more apartments are going in along the Beltline ROW. We can already see the increase in traffic (oh, fun) and new restaurants and other truly fun infrastructure. I far prefer to see the opposite of sprawl.

I managed to strap on my strolling shoes and get out while the sun was still brilliant. I pushed on for almost a half hour after the clouds came in, but I struggled with the wanting to continue part. With the clouds came more wind and less…enjoyability….
Now, the wind has really kicked up and the enjoyability officially has plummeted to the lowest levels in perhaps the last couple of years.
Wind advisory in effect until 1AM. I may sleep on the couch, or perhaps upstairs with hearing protection.

Got out in the sunshine for a stroll with a friend/neighbor, just moseying. Enjoyed a few stands of very hopeful daffies anticipating the spring season. Regrets are next, as lows in the upper teens are predicted for Wed.

New year, new skill set. Actually, way back in the Dark Ages I did some knitting, but not for decades. I discovered that my fingers retained some memory of what to do, but I had to restart the counting instinct anew.
One thing I didn’t forget: fat needles plus fat yarn equals fast project.

If there is such a thing as a couple New Year’s resolution, ours is to up our whimsy quotient. We’re not sure exactly what our whimsy is, but we figure we’ll recognize it when we see it.
Today’s whimsy was an adventure to Jo-Ann fabrics (more on that another day), followed by a stop at the super-duper-market. We bought lots of veggies, but I almost always find myself photographing the feeeeeesh.
Maybe this is a big-eye fish from the Big Eyes movie?

Tonight’s play was unscripted and involved an almost-two-year-old with jet lag who couldn’t convince herself to go to sleep—we and the two grey kitten-cats were too exciting…. She fussed. The cats were interested but keeping their distance.
I was glad to be in the audience….

We’re enjoying (haha) the winter rainy season, all grey and over-moist.
Better than ice, we decided!
