These foxgloves are descendants those planted in my great-grandmother’s garden, probably in the nineteen-teens. No one seems to know the origin of the name.
I was going to name this post “Urticating hairs,” but as far as I know nothing is urticating about foxgloves…nettles, however, yes. And, no, I do not remember seeing any form of urticating before today. Such a fine word, too.
