Autumn in Aug?

It’s August…it’s even the first half of August. Yet, I see the early-leafing redbud is already dropping a yellowing leaf…an early harbinger of autumn. Or fall. [Get it? Fall? Falling leaf? Fallen leaf? haha]

Semi-smart

Oven time

Personal consumer wish list: sorta smart appliances that allow, I dunno, something like bluetooth syncing of clocks. That would include my oven, coffeemaker, microwave, that sorta device—with my phone sending them the time. No internet cloud connection and information sharing with distant strangers. Just two devices, one obtaining basic data from the other.

Let there be…

For several reasons, I don’t have significant (share-able) thoughts this evening.

I am fine.

Pink; sooo pink

Zinnia. Sunflower family. Native to the New World. If this is Zinnia elegans, it’s native to what we now call central Mexico.

Allée d’arbres

Watching “Emily in Paris” (saison deux) for the exteriors in Paris.

Title does not refer to photo; flowers are not trees.

WttW

Word to the wise: do not confuse “The Lincoln Lawyer” with “The Lincoln Highway.” The first is a TV series; the second is a book. Neither is about Abe; however, IMHO a case could be made that he should get royalties.

Panga

As far as I can recall, I never rode in a panga (by any name) before our trip last month to the Galápagos. Already, I miss those days! This was a penguin-watching expedition…oh, with pelicans and, what was it?…frigate birds…whatever. Note the volcanic cone in the background.

Panga in my Apple-dictionary (very fruity) is a large African machete-knife. I think “panga” is used widely in Latin American, at least on the west coast, for this kind of inflated boat. The Apple-world needs to self-update. IMHO 😎

Not for dancing

Splurged on new footwear. Decided my new sandals should be…prismatic.

Ready?

Autumnal changes underway. Seeds forming. More schools opening.

Glazed over

A l-o-n-g time ago I did some work for a potter-carpenter. I worked on a kitchen/bathroom cabinet-and-tile installation job, and got “paid” in pottery. Although I needed cash at the time, I took what was offered…which is why I have lovely serving pieces like this big bowl. Love the juxtaposition of maroon and blue.
