I did more plant purging today, which most people call weeding. My focus was poke salad (aka pokeweed, Phytolaca americana), which I discovered have massive, fat roots (which may have another function/name, but they look like roots). Anyway, you can tell how spring is progressing, that the phase we’re in is “emergence of pokeweed.” BTW, the photograph is of Star of Bethlehem.
