Bucolic moments

Soooo bucolic

A tractor is pretty darned bucolic. In the modern industrial sense.

Grapes still green

Grapes…still green and still not eaten by the birds. In my experience, avian beings eat grapes, cherries, whatever, about three hours before I figure out they’re ripe.

Sandhills flocking

You’re forgiven if you think these are Canada geese. Nope: sandhill cranes.

Sun did come out

SeneysBootHill

We haven’t stopped at Seney’s Boot Hill in years, so we did today. It was buffed up perhaps fifteen years ago, but nothing since, so it’s entering another genteel decline. Strange plastic items survive better than most of the wood.

Frilly shroom

We went on to the refuge, and it’s mushroom season…mushrooms and swans. And the usual marsh critters and plants.

Jr n parent swan

Parent trumpeter swan in front of perhaps three-quarter grown swan/cygnet—when do the youths become swans?

Perhaps giant aphids

I’m speculating: giant aphids?

Nibbled gill shroom

Not sure what nibbled this mushroom down to the gills—I know turtles like them….

Resting turtle

Speaking of turtles…painted turtle?

Twist on the normal

Moose bell

You’ve heard of a cow bell? Hah. 😉

Go green

Bike parking

Integrating the day’s errand stops together, we stopped at the “new” H0leFuuds because it fit into our route better, instead of our closer-to-home usual outlet. It’s different. It’s oh-so urban, in a large structure with parking in a ramp that’s part of the building, get your parking ticket validated in the store (thankfully, the cashiers help you remember that step). We parked in an electric charging spot, and got the car topped off (well, to 99%) subsidized by WF and so free to us, thank you very much. Next to our spot was this fancy wall rack. Empty. Such a green city, ATL, ¿no? haha

Story gems

Gate light

I confused a passing runner as I got out of his way and stopped, so I could return to take this photo. But he was long gone by that time and didn’t know my maneuver was mostly to take a photo and not because he’d surprised me. [There’s a short story in this.]

White delicate flowers

There’ve been plant photos, but no flower pictures since the 17th. I’d say it’s time. [Not really a story.]

Hobo bath activity area

Proposed story moment: interrupted hobo bath. Cleaning on two fronts—water fountain and chemical—both in a limited way.

Please stand by

Textile blue

Probably should have used this yesterday with my discussion about textiles. Only this is with cotton or something mimicking cotton.

Almost COLD this morning. Almost autumnal. Yay!

Haven’t heard a prediction on this, but I’m assuming we’ll get some rain here in Big-A-town from the spinning bands generated by the coming storm…Monday? Tuesday?

Salmagundi

Dawn glow

Glow before full sun.

Sunlit stop

Effect of full sun.

Aix rose

This brought happy memories.

Pool boy wine

This brought none…because: no pool. Heh. Reasonably clever name, though.

Once again

Gardenia second go

Our gardenia is making a second go at blooming (inhale: mmmmm), even despite the heat.

Real reality

Hawaiian shirt trees

Real made-in-Hawaii Hawaiian shirt….

That’s what you get for vegetation today, as it was too hot to go out for a walk.

At 6:15 am: 78°F and nudging up. Up, eventually, to 100 round number degrees, with a heat index of 1-oh-big-niner. Yikes. A record for the year, heck the high since summer 2016.

Hawaii mysteries

Long lines maybe

We spotted this in a fishing boat, not sure what it is. Long line? Hooks…lines…carpet fragment.

Heiau kapu

This heiau (sacred place) is in a busy park at a good surfing spot. Many signs remind non-believers that this is a sacred place, to avoid—no cars, scooters or entrance. But, oh what a scenic place! I couldn’t tell if there was a adjacent village anciently; it could have been by itself overlooking the ocean.
