Corona (not virus)

We managed to see the total solar eclipse. I think the resolution’s been hammered and you can’t see that this is the corona, or that Jupiter is below and right of the sun/moon pairing. Stunning. Stories tomorrow….

Bumps ahead?

Several years ago, City Worker-Bees installed asphalt speed-bumps along one of our favorite neighborhood shortcuts. Today we took that route and all the speed-bumps had been ground up and removed, leaving a series of rough shallow depressions instead. We hypothesized that the City Worker-Bees are preparing to repave the street, and, sigh, probably reconstruct the bumps.

Lightweight power

I used our spring REI discount on a lightweight, well-cushioned shoe for my near-daily walks. They look a bit like modernized corrective shoes, but, man-o-man do they feel good for my feet and knees (after two days). [Fingers crossed this continues!]

Words floating by today: Patapsco, prill, torque.

Light upgrade

This afternoon a beam-let danced on a small area on the tablecloth, and made it seem like hoity-toity old-timey brocade. Sorta.

Novelties

I do enjoy the “regular” redbuds very much, yet I also always look for the few white redbuds that are scattered in this neighborhood.

This is the first summer “insect” picture, in which I take a flower picture, then find when I look closely at the photo that I also made a bug-portrait.

Getting wise

Penultimate 2023–2024 winter sunset…sometimes it’s worth it to look backwards.

Deception

Early this evening I looked out the window and was awash in the feeling that I could tell the days were longer. Then I thought about it. Nope; well, a little. Mostly, I was noticing the apparent longer days from the time change.

Ephemera

Petal drift

Springtime brings petal drifts. That they are short-lived is part of their attraction.

DARKWTII?

I don’t…know the time, that is. I can easily read a clock, but my body is confused. We do this twice a year…why?

Title acronym refers to “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?,” Chicago, 1969.

Change

Fence structure

Rainy now, but earlier it wasn’t raining and a crew put a fence up on the edge of our backyard…the neighbors’ project. I’m glad to have the fence; they won’t be looking in our windows any more…yay!
