Musings

Look at these wee windows all lined up to ogle pedestrians walking by on the sidewalk. Or that’s how it looks to me.

I thought the light on the fence-top loops looked darned special, and tried to capture it…but, nope, in the digital world, it looks just flat and not side-lit curvy lovely.

I braved the overcast nippy morn in proper garmetage to be quite comfy. Side effect: hat hair, the winter static-y kind. Took me back to my Midwest days.

I walked down to the park, and sat, nay basked, in the sunshine while nearby geese busily snatched grass yum yum from the roots. The basking was magical.

If I believed in omens, I’d think this colorful dawn sky is a good one for the new year. Since I don’t, I’m going with uplifting beauty.

Two days after Thanksgiving, this lot was full of trees, and even some wreaths, most under large and extra-large tents. Two days ago, there were seven trees left. Today, I saw two, and one outside the fence leaning against the porte-potty (why?). Now, the tents are gone and just detritus remains.
Also, we visited two grocery stores, and neither had fresh cranberries.

Ivy survivor.
BTW, this wall of horizontally laid, treated-wood beams is over six feet tall, and the ivy is about two feet up from the base. How? [And it’s the only one.]

I ventured out mid-afternoon to make Vitamin D, pushing up my sleeves a bit and waving my hands while walking into the sun…until I had to turn around.

Metal that degrades with this green color must have copper in it…not all copper, just some. It’s called verdigris. It was a scaly, peeling kinda day, and I’m “still processing,” as the phrase goes.

It seems to me that it’s flirting with failure for fruit trees to bloom in December, but this is probably an ornamental plum/peach/cherry/something that doesn’t set fruit anyway, so…the tree “thinks:” why not? Let’s go for it!

When I placed this order on early Wednesday morning, Amazon promised delivery on Thurs/yesterday by 10 pm. Not. Then, the promise was updated to today by 9 pm. Not. Now, Amazon’s enlisted UPS to get it to us…and are promising it by the 19th…and if we don’t receive it then, far more of this page was allocated to telling us how to wrangle a refund. Har.
