Musings

We drove far enough north today that we found pears in bloom, rather lushly decorative among these old (for the Midwest) buildings…

…not far from the Uh-Hi-Uh river.
Fun fact: although many boundaries that follow rivers track the middle of the river, or what was at one time the middle, somehow, that’s not so for the Ohio River. Indeed, the state of Ohio, The Guru (aka Mr Ohio) says, doesn’t “have” any of its namesake river.

Pollen season, but pollen vanquished (temporarily) by storms in the last twenty-four. Sunny. Not hot, yet pleasantly cool. With dogwoods in bloom.

I admit: this is last evening’s moon. Most of today has been rainy, and it’s still too overcast to see that orb at the moment. I’ll look again tomorrow.
And this morning the dawn was pink/red along the horizon, and the Meteor-a said the color indicated that the weather would change and rain was coming. Just like the sailor saying.

Windy. All day. Big gusts and small.
Unsettled weather. Unsettled me.

This Brit phrasing worked/works for today. All day the temp dropped. It was breezy then windy. And the morning’s intermittent drizzle finally ended late afternoon. Unless you were immersed in [fiction] [something else], weather likely dominated your psyche and awareness.

Even before the sun came up, when I awakened, I knew the bedroom was over-lit, as in, there was more light than usual because it was reflected off white stuff that hadn’t been there when I went to bed.

However, by afternoon, the remnants survived only in deep shade. And our front walk is a bit icy, yet our mail-person delivered without a pause. Yay!

I think of these palmettos (right?) as denizens of a more tropical locale than here in the ATL. Clearly, that’s my ignorance showing. As I photographed, I silently warned the plant to beware of impending weather, as the next three overnight lows are to be in the 20s here.

The wind has decreased, and will continue to fade overnight. The snow and icy bits are gone, and even protected plants are acting like the winter weather has passed. But it is cold, and we may see snow again, what is it? Friday, I think.

Only part of the day was snow day. It began as a rain day, then morphed into sleet-rain…then actual accumulations that qualify as an icy version of Snow day.

This was probably about the maximum accumulation in our neighborhood. It’s still above freezing. At the moment. On this street.

I went out for a wee stroll this afternoon, and passed a woman at a distance of at least five paces, and she cheerily said, “Feels like snow!” I agreed; it sure did. However, my fav-o-rite weather app doesn’t predict any until just before noon tomorrow. At this specific, very local location, right here.
