Worst exposure of the trip…. More info on original here…and the new one here.
You may remember that the original Butter Jesus went in a conflagration (that was not the end of the world). The good people have replaced the Butter Jesus with a less buttery version who is above the water (and not quite walking on it). No word on if there’s a new nickname in popular culture.

The rain haunted us from immediately post-lunch on, well, off and on. The yellow has mostly leached away from the ground-leaves.
And those are my observations for today.
Fast-soup for dinner: large can of tomatoes along with fresh garlic liquified with a stick blender in a saucepan, dump in leftover rice, frozen edamame, some mushrooms, then zip up the flavor with the holy trinity of black pepper, worchestershire, and sriracha. Salt to taste. In 10 minutes start-to-finish the whole pot was too hot to eat. Oh, added a bit of parm as a topper.

Poor photographic capture of god rays that enhanced our sky-views mid-trip.
We were so pleased that the ground-fog that surrounded us upon arising lifted and decreased, so that when we reached the mountains, the views were better, not worse.
We got home in time to restock the fridge (found a friend in the TJ’s parking lot!!) and celebrate our twenty-third.
I find the last days of trips are bitter-sweet and happy-making, combined.

The title of this entry might also have been “Perspectives.”
Credit for this image goes to big-sister G, with huge creativity props. Apologies, G; I cropped it to focus on W. And his doppelgänger. (I think they both love guacamole.)
This is the easiest way to have twins, I suspect. Fewer tax deductions, though.

Any historical rundown of technological ingenuity and innovation must include happenings in the Detroit Metro area. I have seen (and explored) drive-through liquor stores—and I don’t mean a drive-up window; I mean structures, some with solid doors to close out the weather, and other similar stay-in-your vehicle retail establishments. Here I note my first drive-through Sbux, and it’s in the the Detroit area.
We just drove-through once, but based on that experience, I’d hypothesize that the drive-through alley creates a Venturi effect that slows the staff dramatically. Or something. Gad, they were slow.
Food for thought: are these drive-through business establishments mostly vendors of food/drink?

It’s tough on auto companies.
They need to develop the next generation of product, but if they send their test cars out in public (after all, there’s only so much you can learn in the lab or on the test track), they must endure snoopy spies…who photograph and post pictures of the not-yet-released vehicles on the internet, so secrecy is…stomped? diminished? destroyed?
So, I’m one of those people who saw, photographed, and posted.

Which one am I?
Didja know that Niagara Falls is actually three waterfalls?
Okay, enough “didja know”?
Yeah, okay, this was first thing in the morning (after looking down on the strange miniature Forbidden City). Later we crossed the foreign country and ended up in a charmed city, A2. With KW & GG.

Saratoga Springs. Yes. New York. (Can’t find web domain; like I note, soooo last century.)
Ah, so last century. In a good way.
Here at lunch time. Ate not here at the yuppie place, but down the street at a diner, serving breakfast all day.

We took advantage of the sunny morning to hike around this golf field course, which has been prepared for the expected onslaught of cross-country skiers, with little fences around the greens, etc. We walked the mud paths around all the sensitive places, and found a few edge-spots where the keepers dump boughs and other organic discards.

These tropical imports, on display, gave quite a show as the youngsters were allowed to drop fresh leaves into the feeding cube. That big one is a soldier ant.
