Musings

Prediction is for temps in the nineties for the whole, entire, every-day of the coming week. With “feels-like” numbers even higher.

Makes me think of heading north…way north. Not so excited about all the toilet-rooms and the overnight room on the way…but we made it work a while back, coming and going, so…repeat?

“Whoever…[did a repulsive thing]…smells like farts.” That threat cannot be improved…on a polite, public sign. No spelling points, however.

Lovely lily after overnight rain. Also: cannot be improved.

Lovely stump garden. I’m guessing there’s a stump because an oak had butt rot.

Despite the Covid, plenty of outdoor commerce underway. New paving at Murphy’s…and Murphy’s dates back over thirty years. Also counted seven sets of yard-dudes…blowing and mowing.
We’re now under a wear-masks order here in ATL…need to check to see if it’s okay if I keep my distance from others while exercising and stay outdoors…without a mask. Just checked: no adjustment for those exercising…so I’ll be sweating extra along my jawline…oh fun.

Did the Fates sleep in this morning and that’s why I did? Dunno. Fact remains that I woke up late…well, later than usual. I finally left the house at 7:38am, and downtown sure looked different than it did much earlier in the morning on the first—different sky conditions, I admit, but not THAT different.

Also, from what I saw today—at least eight different species—the weather (warm, moist) is bringing on mushrooms, here’re two kinds co-existing.

I named this photo “fungal transition” because I caught these beauties at a moment that won’t last…during that time when they’re still mushrooms, albeit transparent, and not yet putrefying goo.

I know about the water-into-wine meme; perhaps this is an attempt at rocks-into-milk?

The early-morning weather people I heard both said there was ground fog murkiness, so I expected to see it when I left the house before 7.

They also said that in the general area of the city the smoke from the Fourth fireworks was adding to the obscurity. I find that interesting. These health-pandemic types keep saying we should go outside because the Covid particles disperse more. Now the weather specialists are saying that particles don’t disperse (essentially). I’m guessing there are more factors involved…like 5/6 feet off the ground has rather different patterns than 200 feet (plus) above the surface.
Certainly, whatever the air conditions, it took longer than usual to clear.

I set off this morning (HUMID-cubed), and Eloise came out to greet me…stretch, meow, rub. Eloise lives at a neighbor’s house.

Several blocks later, I was greeted by this cat, unknown to me. I think the cats were feeling a bit lonely, with a lack of holiday traffic…that is foot traffic…I could hear a drone from the tires and motors over on the Interstate. Where were those vehicles going? Hope not all to the beach!

Returning to the house, I saw Sebastian under our car. He was all squinty eyed from napping. I don’t think he cared how many people were about. He didn’t move when I strolled by. [He is from the same house as Eloise.]
BTW, three examples of how difficult it is to get a cat action photo in focus.
Happy Fourth! 🎇🎆🎇

Soooo humid. And warm warm hot. So, out early, ahead of the full sun.

Me and this cottontail. Haven’t seen one in a while here in the city.

Strange world, under this mushroom. This space is about a centimeter and a half high.

This kind of yellow sign with the central arrow and upside-down words means a movie shoot location. At least here.

No big trucks, but many cars were parked on a normally emptier residential street. Two security guards and no sign of grips or talent or others. I just kept going. Nothing to be seen here.

I’ve noticed the butterfly several times, and only today saw the praying mantis. The eyes make her/him!
