Park visit

Today’s highlight: a walk in the park—one of the county parks nearby…. Gorgeous sunny day, very fine for basking. And the Botanist walked 25 minutes straight (well, with one brief stop to check out a bush and figure out what species it was)!! Very good rehab!

I have no recollection of why we’re looking down….

Dawn pink

The rosy morning-sky heralded another fine day—not quite as sunny and fine as the last two, but definitely “mostly sunny” and pleasant, with a high around, of all things, 60°F.

Foggy morn

Just gorgeous at dawn, with heavy ground-fog turned brilliant by the sunlight—another lovely day, although we found no time to walk.

Great fun to join cousins (both mine and Mom’s) over by Chelsea for an outstanding feast….

Dawn light

Dawn gave us a sliver of sky unencumbered by clouds, and the meteorologist says sun tomorrow. Today, however, still mid-Michigan overcast. Sigh.

First Pond

Against all odds, the sun actually peeked out for all of sixteen seconds today (in two brief sessions), and luckily I was standing by First Pond and caught its reflection. First Pond is the biggest of the ponds where I walk, and the first one you come to from the south (we were very inventive). We ice skated there, and fished for panfish, too, as kids. The algal infestation is a later arrival.

Rain day

I took a moment, sheltering the camera from the precip, and got these drops hanging on this shrub (unknown woody type).

Color bits

In my (usually) daily walks, I’ve tried to look for color, a goal that has kept me searching for days. Today, however, I found this remnant fleur, perhaps some kind of aster (sorree!—no web search time to figure it out), a huge surprise, as the grey days have mounted up, with the colorless skies desaturating the already rather plain vegetation. Yesterday I did see the swish of a white-tail’s tail, but that hardly counts….

Natcheral histree

There’s not a whole lot of overwhelming interest, at first glance, in the old-field, glaciated, sandy area where I walk, but I did find this tree-ooze, sticky enough to capture a spider(?), perhaps on its way to becoming amber….

Fall harvest

Today the machines mostly completed the job of transforming the maize field out back into its winter mode, shorn yet still messy, like a bad haircut.

Vees above

The Canada geese have been on the move for weeks, but this is the first photo I’ve gotten, with overcast skies leaving the birds as mere dark outlines….
