Musings

I named this image leaf fluff…becuase the leaves are still fluffy and dry, and fresh-fallen. This was yesterday. Today, they are wet and matted down, on their way to becoming duff. Duff is the organic matter on top of the soil in a forest.

I confess that this camellia photo is from the other day; today was overcast and no rain…yet. Rain is due to arrive in the wee hours. Not surprisingly, I’m more worried about the predicted winds.

That brilliant pink will wake you up! No Barbie promotion behind this azalea display, BTW.

Dewy morning.

Dew on blue.

Blue with clouds.

Red Japanese maple leaves. Okay, this is the line that changes the game, although it’s the end here.

I looked at this wall life and wondered if any of it glows in the dark. Probably not.
This idea likely arose because I’ve been reading about glow worms in caves and grottoes in New Zealand. Those are not worms at all, but instead are the larvae of gnats that are either carnivorous or fungi-eating. […followed by the phrase “whatever floats your boat”??]

I found a pretty pink camellia today, with a neighboring bud, and now we can adore then together.

Every few days I remember to check the ginkgos and see if they’re still in leaf or enleaved or beleaved, something. These branches were way high up, and I used the 5x lens, then manipulated the image “in post” to get the color of the leaves to pop despite the bright sky.

My new shoes arrived yesterday in the late afternoon. They’re Salomons. I didn’t care about the brand so much, but these have a stiffer sole and are good for trails, and also not the squishy sole that a running shoe needs.

We had The Brother of Seattle here for a day, and we took a roam this afternoon, and I have now logged three miles in my New Shoes. And, en route, we found ladybugs of many hues on a crepe myrtle. Now he’s flying back to the Left Coast.

Landscape drama shot. With ducks.

Flower drama shot. It’s all in the color.
Unphotographed drama: some kind of movie shoot…guess it could have been an ad shoot or music video…we didn’t get close enough to tell.

We entered the carwash that we usually use, but haven’t been to in a while, and found a sudsing ambiance of green! That was a surprise.

Then as the car was rolled along it switched back to the usual no color, and I thought maybe they were trying to suggest it was a “green” car wash.
But no, after that we had lilac, bright blue, and red, and so on. Maybe it’s a rainbow message?

Murky day, which is fine: we need the rain…it also means the leaves are coming down down down.
