Musings

OTRA, without Willie

Two days ago we got an impulse to go north. We left in a light rain, and this was the edge of the weather mass. All sunshine after this.

I don’t usually show license plates, but this one begged to be included here.

The new phone/camera clearly takes better shots than the old equipment.

See, just look at today’s sunset (even after downsampling for this post).

OTRA = on the road again

Counteraction

I did a huge inhale and gloried in the scent of the few blooms on this persistent specimen as an antidote to my deep confusion over the escalating horrible mess in the Levant.

Surfacing from ID rabbit hole

Aesculus

I got totally distracted from whatever lame idea I had about a topic today by trying to ID this. Pretty sure it’s an Aesculus, but I can’t figure out which one. Genus has to be close enough!

Techno upgrade

I walked in the morning, in the old world.

Then, my new iPhone arrived, and I began the transfer. I hit snags, and The Guru stepped in and did the magic with Mint, etc., and it finished.

The new phone means a major camera upgrade. See! Look at that vegetation variation detail!

Ethnic cuisine confusion

Burrata beet

Turkish? Not sure, guessing the beets are, or possibly are, while the burrata is definitely Italian, although it may have a Turkish equivalent? Still, the dish came from a Turkish restaurant, or a place that claims it’s a Turkish restaurant.

No doubt, the confusion is all mine.

OTOH, totally yummy.

Trio

Stunned bee on redolent ginger lily.

Shoes on high, too high to smell.

Sun-dried autumnal fennel blooms. No scent; too desiccated.

Two times yum

The pattern of this frond enthralled me.

We did the kind of food shopping that’s not available in the UP, and made salmon and veg. The salmon is dressed with ginger, orange and lime zest, plus black pepper.

Updates

I hadn’t seen this update before. I love the steps-then-dance addition to the hopscotch grid.

I also updated my phone and watch. Now, two of the most common things I do on my watch each take an additional step/tap. You can imagine how thrilled I am (NOT).

Face plant

I propose that this is an excellent example of Halloween yard-decoration angst.

Spider-abyss

This spider is working the angles. Not only has it made a funnel, it put the web in a cactus to up the danger-danger. Me—I kept my distance, and just accumulated digits from afar.
