Musings

I know my friends in Michigan are watching white stuff come down, but here it’s leaves that are airborne, and the persistent azaleas are still abloom. Nevertheless, we’re expecting the coldest night of the fall tonight.

Last night we sampled the sweet basil (a few black spots, but good flavor), and tonight we’re having the Thai version—as an addition to some, ahem, (helpfully prepped) Thai food (from TJs).

I remember working in rural SC umpff years ago, and the liquor stores were closed if the polls were open. They know their priorites over in SC.
No, this is part of a line of restaurants, bars, clothing shops, and other stores, nearly all of them with promotions of some kind advertised in the window. This place went the other direction, advertising their cutback, admittedly in the slot where the band-of-the-day was supposed to be touted.
This is what I learned walking home from the polls.

Every once in a great while I enjoy a pancake sandwich for dinner. A fried egg with a fresh hot ww pancake on either side, plus real maple syrup. Times two. Oh, yum.
Very happy palate. (Let’s not discuss the waistline.)

Most of the time I was out strolling with B at Piedmont Park and the Bot Garden, I thought the daily photo would be of autumnal leaves. I know: again.
However, somehow the last major stop we made gave me more compelling images. I think these spheres and uprights (white endives?) are part of the festive holiday light-fest that’s being installed. Anyway, the backlighting from the late-day sun…very…captivating?

Nestled in the cooler with ice water….
New household favorite white, courtesy TJs, from Spain, and gently bubbly: Albero is the name. Enjoy like a fine-tuned vinho verde, more toward the prosecco portion of the taste spectrum than the champagne zone. Tastier than most in this price range.

Even with some autumn rain, the backyard leaves are still “fluffy” and yellow. I’m loving this season (note that I’m not mentioning how windy it was ALL NIGHT last night—and more…).

I suspect that the weather conditions we’ve had this autumn are the reason so many of the leaves that are falling in our backyard are in lovely yellow tones.

I swear I hardly tweaked this photo at all.

Lotsa ones today, if you’re into numerology and you count years/months/days using the Gregorian calendar (which dates to 1582, and that seems rather recent to me…).
