Veggie shark gummies

Twenty-first century gummy “bears” (a German product, originally)

I never know what I’ll find at the international supermarkets; JCB spotted these gummy sharks. Love the white belly/dark back detail.

Another historical touch(s)tone?

Zipatone layout

Zip-A-Tone, a brand (type? haha) of screentone.

Our neighbors are doing some flinging preparatory to remodeling, and gifted this fine selection to JCB.

Takes me back—and I was never a graphic designer!

Mmmmmm; kitchen smells great—regular white ’taters, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts are roasting in the oven….

Asian-style from my kitchen

Marinating sashimi salmon

Marinated sashimi salmon in (fancy Japanese organic) soy and fresh ginger, and stir-fried assorted veg over (also fancy and organic) udon noodles—fine, fine, meal!

Next greens to try?

Red dandelions

From yesterday at the market.

There’s some vocabulary: pissenlit. Pronounced pee-sohn-leet. Thanks, Google Translate.

Ah, yummmm

Rambutan fresh display

Seduced once again by the sounds in the word “rambutan“…a photo, not a purchase.

Instead, we did the Oaxaca thing—herbs for a pot of black beans, warm tortillas, the right string cheese ball, a perfect avocado, some tomatillos and tomatoes, limes, onions, the full complement of goodies….

≠ Boxing Day

Slice o pumpkin pie

In honor of Leftover Day, here’s a slice…well, from yesterday, all fresh and yummy. Only a marginal decline overnight, I can report….

Modest contribution

Harvest dishes

We made a contribution to today’s feast, with the focal dishes made by our hosts. In the basket is a bowl of beets, with sweets to the left, and ummmmmmm pies!

I was able to do some careful stacking in the basket, and we transported our loot in one load….

Modestly…it may have been the best piecrust I’ve ever made….

What a great meal, good times, laughs and stories. Thanks, everyone….

New trick

Cranberries a boilin

My new-trick-in-old-age for this season is cranberry sauce. Useta not like it. Now, just this season, I’m a convert.

Maybe I make it more tart. Maybe my tastes have changed.

Anyway, mark me down as a cranberry sauce fan.

That is, cranberry sauce that’s just some berries, sugar, and water. I’m not tooooo adventurous!

Delightful evening

Key lime pie n cranberries

We did a family dinner tonight at my FIL’s, just to socialize—no holiday, no birthday to celebrate.

My most colorful (?) contributions were key lime pie (without key limes, see my recipe) and scrumptious cranberry sauce (best cultivated cranberries I’ve ever had—so dark and flavorful).

Best, however, was seeing everyone.

Even though UGA lost… On the other hand, MichState trounced Nebraska….

Eyeball to eyeball

Ice fish

Patient Reader: after a long string of mostly plants, I thought I’d shift to the critter kingdom and give you some…variation.

Loving loving loving the 5s camera.
