Yeah, I was in a mood, so the text is “upside down.” I especially love the white-lined blue-dot period. This was not taken during a night or during midsummer. Hah!
I’m in climate change shock. In this case the climate change is because we drove about 1K miles south over the weekend. We’re in a wave of humidity and the high temp today was about 4°F above average. The two combined—humidity and temperature—constitute an atmosphere thick enough to be carved, I swear!
Thursday, 5 June 2014

Cloudless sky and pleasant-to-warm temps all day. New garden is drying under these conditions; I keep adding dishwater (my new chore).
Most of the apple buds are open. The trees are breath-taking. They have sound—buzzing bees.

Apple buds.
Hot today, as in marshal the curtains to keep the cottage from getting TOO HOT—the first time this season.
Sunday, 6 April 2014

The rains have begun, and the pine pollen is cresting along the sidewalk cracks, and washing into the storm drains.
We’re to get serious rain—we are under a flood watch until 2AM Tuesday. That’s TUESDAY.
On the other hand, when we reach Tuesday, the pine pollen will be…downstream…and no longer airborne.

Quince blooms, captured using the macro.
Chilly overnight will threaten these…survivors….
Sunday, 2 March 2014

In the very low 70°Fs today—hard to believe. Soooo very nice. Rain and cooler (only way we can go, pretty much) tomorrow, and (at least the cooler part) for a while.

While this is a true capture of a moment here today, it is from mid- not late-afternoon, and it’s from the shady side of the house. Still. The snow does persist. Otherwise, the street is almost dry, and the car is snow-free.

My morning began late, I think because it was so quiet (aka city paralyzed—NOTHING moving right around here). The big noise came from giant snowflakes landing everywhere. Maybe a bit more than an inch accumulated here, atop the sleet deposits.
Before noon, the warming trend hit, with above freezing temps. Then came serious sun-warming, and action moved to the gutter, as the accumulations flowed downhill.
By the time darkness arrived, a full-blown melt and a bit of a breeze made dry (!!) spots in the street…. Whatta turnaround!
Now the wintery action is up the East Coast from here; feeling for those millions….
Listening to that hoot owl again—early tonight….

We did venture out for a short walk, temps around freezing (conditions: partly melty and mostly frozen), wind not strong but biting. Sleet most of the day, just started picking up. We still have power and internet (rah!).
Hoping overnight temps don’t plunge, nor do any nearby trees and large branches.
A few icicles, but pretty short, as icicles go. Increase in precip means things will get icier, so, holding breath.
HB from afar to my FIL. We’ll fête you in a few days!
Couldn’t decide on photo so am presenting still life two ways.
