Musings

The worst of the storm here was overnight, although we had rain off and on all day, plus some wind. I got up about 7am, and thought, yay!, we still have power. It went out about five minutes later. Oops. We were VERY fortunate as it came back on about 8:35am, which is when I fired up the coffee maker, and soon the inhabitants were no longer restive.

We took a stroll in the park…beautiful day. They’ve already prepped for big crowds this weekend….

Planning for such events begins years ahead, yet this time a tropical storm, or the remains of one, will be here all day Saturday, with wind and rain, and more wind and rain.

The infrastructure included medium juice boxes…

…also large ones…

…and even very small ones.
End of joke-time.

I manipulated a bridge photo from the other day in an artsy app…came out lovely!

Basil photos, not basil cuisine.

The bee was out of focus, so I tried flash, and it also is ho-hum.
I’m not sure how the basil will taste having gone beyond simply blooming and almost to seed.

In Kentucky, I-75 traverses Appalachian-high mountains, and occasionally clouds sit low. We rarely see this given the timing of our trips, but today we did. Just saying.

In Georgia, we rarely stop at a rest area when homebound, but, we did today. And discovered blooming cherries. MaNachur welcoming us?

We sped south through Michigan on the optimal route; however, in Findlay, Ohio, we opted for the parallel US highway, Route 68, which allowed us to avoid Cincinnati. Here’re some random scenes from central and southern Ohio….
This photo was intended to be about the architectural detail on that far building, but the fountain stole the shot, methinks. Bellefontaine, locally pronounced bell-fountain.

West Liberty. Lucky me that the biker appeared.

Inbound in Urbana, we saw this chopper, and its coffee shop, named Huey’s, of course.

On the south side of Urbana, we spotted this convocation of…chopper riders, the motorcycle kind. I’m guessing it was some kind of prayer gathering; it’s Sunday, after all.

My parents met in Yellow Springs, and I understand that, at least for a time, my dad worked Saturday nights in a bar there…perhaps this one.
We crossed the Ohio on the “new” bridge north of Maysville, and continued on US-68 to Paris, then we turned south on KY-627, a bucolic route that winds between stone fences and horse pastures that we discovered not too long ago, when we were northbound and avoiding traffic snarls in Lexington.

This morning was about the mist/groundfog.

It rose from the lake.

And was lit by rays in the orchard.

It faded in the field, an hour and a half after the first photo.

Yet was still rising off the lake, but only to the right.

Here’s the plus one, The Bridge outlined with multicolored lights.

Sun glow (wide).

Seven minutes later and not wide. I especially like the tiny wave-swells.

In the afternoon, I got some zone 5 activity by raking leaves. I didn’t cart them away, just raked them into the adjacent long grass. [Efficient.]

The morning was a bit overcast-murky, then the sun peeked out in the afternoon, but the triumph was the colorful, dynamic dusk sky.

Stupendous.
